Normally, when one hears about outsourcing, it means that a company is going to fire a variety of people, hire new employees overseas for pennies and pay executives more. Reports of a man who outsourced his own career would normally seem outrageous but one guy actually did it.

Man not joking about outsourcing

When people at the office joke about outsourcing their jobs, they do not mean it traditionally. A traditional business will make a ton of extra money for executives if they fire a variety of people in the country and pay next to nothing in another country to have the same work done.

When people joke about outsourcing, they mean that they pay virtually nothing to get somebody else to do their jobs for them. According to BBC, this is not a joke, and one male has decided to do it.

The man's identity isn't known - he's being called "Bob" in the media - but he outsourced his own job, paying a Chinese business to do his own work as a software creator.

Bob worked at a business as a software creator. The company noticed it was receiving a variety of stuff from China and decided to hire Verizon to assess the security in its network.

What they eventually found was that Bob, whoever he is, had hired a software consultancy in Shenyang, China, to work on his projects. He was by all accounts, until the discovery, a model employee, one of the very best in the building and holding down a salary of many hundred thousand dollars per year. "His" work was timely and of high-quality.

He received an RSA token, in other words an encrypted USB dongle, according to PC Magazine, and FedEx-shipped it to China. Verizon discovered the Chinese contractors were logged in while he was at his desk. What he was doing was web-surfing, looking at sites like eBay, Reddit, LinkedIn and Facebook and looking at cat video clips on YouTube.

Fired from his career

Apparently Bob used many different corporations to outsource to, but it only cost him $50,000 a year to do it. He was making hundreds of thousands, so that was not much in his mind. Bob might require loans to get by now that he wastes so much money rather than doing all the work himself.

Bob, needless to say, has been terminated.
